A Shiraz & Syrah Lunch with Chilly Hargrave FROM GREAT WESTERN TO THE NORTHERN RHÔNE The Wine & Food Society of NSW invites members to a special lunch exploring the fascinating relationship between Australian Shiraz and Northern Rhône Syrah. Presented by Chilly Hargrave, the tasting will feature a line-up of mature and highly regarded wines: From the historic, old-vine Shiraz of Best’s Great Western vineyards to the granite slopes of Saint-Joseph and the celebrated Côte Brune and Côte Blonde of Côte-Rôtie, the wines offer a wonderful opportunity to explore terroir, vintage, ageing and the different expressions of Syrah/Shiraz. The wines will be accompanied by a classic and very appropriate lunch of roast beef, Yorkshire puddings and traditional accompaniments, prepared by Denis Redfern. It promises to be a memorable combination of great mature wines, excellent food and lively conversation, with Chilly guiding us through the wines and the fascinating connections—and differences—between Australian Shiraz and the Northern Rhône.
