CABERNET BY THE SEA
Margaret River and Bordeaux
Our next tasting will explore two of the world’s great maritime Cabernet traditions, placing four Margaret River Cabernets alongside two Bordeaux wines.
The tasting will examine regional style, the influence of blending, and the way Cabernet develops with bottle age, with wines spanning vintages from 2005 to 2019.
2019 Juniper Estate Cornerstone Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon — Margaret River
2016 Château Sérilhan — Saint-Estèphe
2013 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon — Margaret River
2008 Château Villa Bel Air — Graves
2008 Houghton Gladstones Cabernet Sauvignon — Margaret River
2005 Houghton Gladstones Cabernet Sauvignon — Margaret River
The 2008 wines offer a particularly interesting same-vintage comparison between Margaret River and Bordeaux, while the broader line-up lets us follow the development of Cabernet from the younger 2019 wine to more mature examples.
We kindly invite members and their guests
